The concept of combining entertainment with education to offer children an interactive learning environment has been around for a long time. However, with children getting introduced to technological devices at a much earlier age like smart-phones, digital tablets, gaming stations and so on, there has been a rapid shift in the need for engagement-based learning methodologies for kids.
Edutainment presents a great advantage to a child’s learning process as it positions intellectually stimulating learning concepts right in the center of their life. Children are expected to be curious seekers; therefore, a method of learning, such as, role-playing their favorite character or visiting their dream place, instills ‘happy energy’ and confidence in them.
The model of edutainment packages cognitive, social, emotional and physical skill based development in a convenient way of delivery to make learning quick and holistic in a fun-based environment. There are several themes such as health, environment, social responsibilities etc. that can be introduced to young age of 6 years using interactive edutainment based methods for early overall development of children. Thus, the concept of edutainment, which is entertainment combined with education, has been growing as a successful supplement to augment the overall educational experience for children.
