Marking a major expansion move in India’s dining landscape, Trimex Foods has secured the exclusive franchise rights to introduce Panda Express in the country. The rights have been granted by a subsidiary of Panda Restaurant Group. As part of the agreement, Trimex Foods plans to invest around ₹400 crore to roll out nearly 100 outlets nationwide, with the expansion set to begin in Delhi NCR, followed by other major metros and emerging cities.
The collaboration represents a key milestone in Trimex Foods’ growth strategy and highlights the increasing demand for global fast casual dining brands in India. With this launch, consumers will gain access to popular offerings such as Original Orange Chicken and Honey Walnut Shrimp.
Trimex Foods already operates several international brands in India, including Chili's Grill & Bar, PAUL, and Cinnabon, providing a strong foundation to scale this venture. The company plans to leverage its expertise in real estate, supply chain, and operations, with the first outlets expected to open in 2027.
Established in 1983 by Andrew Cherng and Peggy Cherng, Panda Express has evolved into the world’s largest American Chinese restaurant brand. The company operates more than 2,600 outlets across 12 countries and records annual revenues of over $6 billion.
“At Trimex Foods, we are committed to partnering with brands that combine strong global appeal with local adaptability. Panda Express embodies innovation and quality, and we are confident that its signature wok-cooked dishes and warm, dining experience will resonate strongly with India’s increasingly adventurous and discerning food lovers,” said Vaibhav Kaushish, a spokesperson for Trimex Foods Pvt. Ltd.
“We are delighted to partner with Trimex Foods, whose proven track record serving guests and caring for and developing their people, make them the ideal custodian of Panda Express. India is one of the most dynamic restaurant markets in the world, and this collaboration is an exciting step forward in our global expansion,” said Doug Stalgren, spokesperson for Panda Restaurant Group, Inc.
