Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) is strengthening its presence across India’s rapidly growing spiritual tourism landscape with recent hotel openings in Shirdi, Puri and Indore, and an upcoming launch in Ujjain later this year. The expansion underscores the Group’s strategic focus on faith-led travel hubs, one of the fastest-growing segments of India’s domestic tourism market.
With a legacy of early entry into culturally significant destinations such as Ayodhya and Prayagraj, RHG continues its first-mover approach by bringing internationally branded hospitality to emerging pilgrimage centres. The expansion aligns with the government’s vision for sustainable, inclusive tourism and infrastructure-led growth in Tier II and III cities.
India’s religious tourism sector remains a major driver of domestic travel. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the segment recorded over 1,439 million visits in 2022, generating approximately ₹1.34 trillion in revenue. Cities such as Ujjain, which welcomed over 52.8 million visitors in 2023, along with Puri, Shirdi and Indore, continue to see rising footfalls due to improved connectivity and targeted government initiatives. This surge has created growing demand for organised, high-quality hospitality offerings.
Commenting on the expansion, Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said the company aims to blend global service standards with local cultural sensitivity. He added that RHG’s growing portfolio in spiritual destinations is designed to support India’s evolving tourism ecosystem while preserving the heritage and essence of each location.
Among the recent additions is Temple Tree Hotel Shirdi, a member of Radisson Individuals, marking the first internationally branded hotel in the pilgrimage town. Located close to the Shri Sai Baba Temple and Shirdi International Airport, the hotel features 87 rooms, multiple dining venues, event spaces, and leisure amenities, catering to pilgrims, families and corporate travellers.
In central India, Radisson RED Indore introduces a contemporary hospitality offering with 115 rooms, modern social spaces, a rooftop infinity pool, and business facilities. Strategically located on MR-10 Road, the hotel provides easy access to the airport, railway station, business districts and cultural landmarks such as Rajwada Palace and Khajrana Temple.
On the eastern coast, Park Inn & Suites by Radisson Puri brings premium international hospitality to the temple town of Puri. Situated near the Jagannath Temple and sea beach, the 60-room property is designed for pilgrims and leisure travellers, with dining options and event facilities, and additional amenities to be introduced in the next phase.
Looking ahead, Radisson Hotel Ujjain will become the city’s first internationally branded hotel. Located near the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, the upcoming property will feature 150 rooms along with wellness-focused amenities including a spa, yoga and meditation centre, positioning it as a holistic hospitality destination.
Radisson Hotel Group currently operates and develops over 200 hotels in India, with more than half of its portfolio located in Tier II and III markets. The Group remains the largest international hotel operator in Delhi NCR and continues to expand its diverse brand presence across the country.
