Hospitality tech firm OYO has announced a significant corporate rebranding, with parent entity Oravel Stays Ltd. officially adopting the name Prism, ahead of its long-anticipated initial public offering (IPO).
The rebranding, revealed in a shareholder letter by founder and chairman Ritesh Agarwal, marks a strategic shift to unify the company’s expanding portfolio under a single corporate identity, while keeping OYO as its flagship consumer-facing brand for budget and midscale travel.
“Prism will serve as the umbrella for all our diverse businesses, helping us work more efficiently and clearly communicate who we are,” Agarwal said in the letter. “It will tie together our different brands without losing what makes each one unique.”
The name "Prism" was selected from more than 6,000 entries received through a global naming competition. The name reflects the company’s broader ambition to project a “future-ready corporate architecture” that aligns with its growth in multiple hospitality verticals.
The newly named entity, Prism, now houses a diversified portfolio that spans hospitality, technology, extended stays, and event spaces. Key verticals under the Prism umbrella include Hotels (Brands: OYO, Motel 6, Townhouse, Sunday, and Palette), Vacation Homes (Brands: Belvilla, DanCenter, CheckMyGuest, Studio Prestige), Extended-Stay Residences (Brand: Studio 6 (via acquisition of G6 Hospitality in the U.S.), Workspaces and Celebratory Venues (Brands: Innov8, Weddingz.in)
In addition, Prism will continue to develop and provide technology solutions across the hospitality ecosystem, including AI-powered partner tools, data science platforms, and revenue management systems.
Despite the corporate name change, OYO will continue to be the public-facing brand for budget and midscale accommodation, where it already has a strong foothold globally.
“Our OYO brand has built a strong global identity, and will remain the face of affordable and midscale travel,” Agarwal noted.
The rebrand comes at a critical time as the company prepares for its public market debut. While a specific IPO date has not been disclosed, industry watchers view the move as part of a broader effort to position Prism as a diversified travel-tech conglomerate to attract a wider pool of investors.
Founded in 2012, the company now operates in over 35 countries and claims to have served more than 100 million customers worldwide.
