The market continues to hold its place as India’s priciest high street.

Delhi’s iconic Khan Market has slipped one position in the global rankings of the world’s most expensive high-street retail locations, now standing at 24th with an annual rent of USD 223 per square foot, according to Cushman & Wakefield’s latest report. The market continues to hold its place as India’s priciest high street.

The global list, compiled in the report Main Streets Across the World 2025, ranks headline rents in 138 premier urban retail locations. London’s New Bond Street topped the list with rents of USD 2,231 per sq ft, followed by Milan’s Via Monte Napoleone at USD 2,179 per sq ft, and New York’s Upper 5th Avenue at USD 2,000 per sq ft. Other leading locations include Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong, Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Ginza in Tokyo, and Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.

Cushman & Wakefield highlighted the resilience and global prominence of India’s high streets. Gautam Saraf, Executive Managing Director, Mumbai & New Business, said, “Premium destinations like Khan Market, Connaught Place, and Galleria Market are attracting international and domestic brands, driven by rising affluence and evolving consumer preferences.” Limited mall supply has further positioned these high streets as strategic hubs for visibility and consumer engagement.

India’s retail rental growth has been strong, particularly in Tier 1 cities. Gurugram’s Galleria Market recorded a 25% rent increase, followed by Connaught Place at 14% and Mumbai’s Kemps Corner at 10%, averaging 6% year-on-year growth across 16 tracked locations. The report also noted that India is home to APAC’s most affordable main street, Anna Nagar 2nd Avenue in Chennai, with rents of USD 25 per sq ft per year.
