Flipkart has significantly expanded its supply chain infrastructure and seller network across Assam and the Northeast to meet growing festive season demand. The move includes larger warehousing capacity, enhanced last-mile delivery systems, and deeper engagement with local sellers, artisans, and farmers.

The Northeast has emerged as one of Flipkart’s fastest-growing regions, with 35–40% year-on-year growth driven by rising digital adoption and consumer demand. To cater to this surge, Flipkart now operates over 6 lakh square feet of warehousing space in Guwahati, covering categories like large appliances, general merchandise, and groceries.

In Tripura, the company has launched a grocery fulfilment centre in Agartala, capable of processing up to 5,000 orders daily. Meanwhile, Flipkart has also expanded its quick commerce arm, Flipkart Minutes, by scaling up Micro Fulfilment Centers (MFCs) across Guwahati. Nine MFCs are currently operational, enabling faster delivery of essentials during the festive season.

To ensure deeper last-mile connectivity, Flipkart has set up 391 small-format delivery hubs across the Northeast, including 31 in Guwahati alone.

The company’s expansion is also generating employment, with over 2.2 lakh seasonal jobs created across India, many in warehousing, logistics, and delivery roles in the Northeast. Flipkart is working to build an inclusive workforce through its Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) and partnerships with social organisations, offering opportunities to underrepresented communities and persons with disabilities.

The seller ecosystem in Assam has grown rapidly, crossing 1 lakh registered sellers. Key growth categories include ethnic wear, grooming, footwear, children’s apparel, and home furnishings. Flipkart’s Samarth Krishi initiative is also helping farmers from the region expand market access. Products like pineapples from Garo Hills, strawberries from Khasi Hills, Assam lemons, and baby kiwis from Bomdila are now reaching markets in Ranchi, Patna, and Kolkata.

On the sustainability front, Flipkart aims to transition to 100% electric vehicles for last-mile delivery by 2030. Its Flipkart Reset program, promoting circular economy practices, has seen strong traction in the Northeast, now accounting for nearly 30% of total program activity.

"Our expanded presence in the Northeast will bring festive joy to customers while boosting livelihoods and regional entrepreneurship," said Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group.
