Fat Lulu’s has strengthened its presence in Punjab with the opening of a new outlet at HLP Galleria in Mohali, Chandigarh, marking the brand’s second location in the state. The new restaurant also represents an evolution of its format, moving beyond its original pizzeria-led proposition towards a broader food, beverage and entertainment experience.
The brand’s journey began after founders Deepak Datwani and Monika Batra moved from Goa to Delhi in 2010. During the same year, a visit to Brooklyn exposed them to family-run pizzerias where pizza-making was treated as a craft. The experience went on to influence the concept that eventually became Fat Lulu’s.
Fat Lulu’s launched its first outlet in Gurgaon, introducing thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas at a time when the Indian market was largely accustomed to thicker bases and heavily topped pizzas. Over the years, the brand broadened its menu to include Neapolitan-style pizzas, grills, pastas and beverages while developing different restaurant formats.
Its Khan Market location combines the pizzeria concept with a bar, while the Paragon Waterfront outlet in Ludhiana operates as a café and bar offering pizzas, pastas, grills and a wider selection of cuisines.
The new Mohali outlet adopts a more bar-centric, all-evening format, bringing together food, beverages and music. Beyond its signature pizzas, the menu features Mexican-inspired dishes, tacos, burgers, grills, cheese boards, pastas and mains, complemented by a full bar programme.
The HLP Galleria outlet becomes Fat Lulu’s second location in Punjab, following its Ludhiana restaurant. While the Ludhiana outlet established the brand in the state through its café-and-bar format, the Mohali location expands the proposition with a wider food and beverage mix and an emphasis on evening-led experiences.
Entertainment will form an integral part of the new outlet’s offering, with recurring DJ nights and Friday events planned as part of its programming.
The latest launch underlines Fat Lulu’s evolution from a single-format pizzeria into a multi-format restaurant brand. By adapting its concepts to different locations while retaining thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas as a core offering, the brand is building a more diversified presence across India’s evolving dining and entertainment market.
