With the Exim (Export Import) Bank’s decision to set up an office in Ethiopia, the small and medium enterprises will have better access to the market in East Africa.
The office of the bank is expected to be functional in a month’s time. This will help Indian enterprises, especially, SMEs, in making their presence felt in this region. The bank already has offices in Johannesburg and Dakar.
The Indian investors see a lot of potential in the African market, especially sectors like paper, flower, manufacturing etc. With the setting up of a new office in Ethiopia, Indian SMEs can look forward to tap into other emerging areas, thereby, facilitating technology, skill transfer and job creation.
