Vayve Mobility, an emerging player in the original equipment manufacturing (OEM) sector, is poised to unveil an upgraded version of its solar-powered compact electric car, Eva, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The event, scheduled from January 17 to 22, will take place in the nation’s capital, promising to spotlight innovations in sustainable transportation.
Following a successful debut at Auto Expo 2023, where Eva garnered widespread attention, the updated model seeks to address key urban mobility challenges. Designed with traffic congestion, parking constraints, and rising fuel costs in mind, Eva offers a compact and eco-friendly solution tailored for city commutes.
Eva delivers a range of 250 kilometres on a single charge, supplemented by up to 3,000 kilometres annually through its solar charging capability. Equipped with a high-voltage powertrain, the vehicle supports rapid charging, adding 50 kilometres of range in just five minutes. It accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in five seconds and achieves a top speed of 70 km/h, making it a nimble option for urban roads.
The car's user-friendly design enhances driver visibility and integrates smart connectivity features. These include smartphone compatibility, remote monitoring, vehicle diagnostics, and over-the-air updates, offering a modern driving experience.
Eva’s operational cost is a fraction of conventional petrol cars. While traditional vehicles average ₹5 per kilometre in fuel expenses, Eva runs at approximately ₹0.5 per kilometre. This cost efficiency is attributed to its lightweight design and advanced engineering, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious urban households.
“Eva represents a new category of city cars, combining sustainability and practicality,” said Nilesh Bajaj, Co-founder and CEO of Vayve Mobility. “Based on feedback from Auto Expo 2023, we have refined the vehicle to meet the evolving needs of modern urban consumers. By integrating solar power and smart connectivity, Eva is tailored for the urban lifestyle.”
The car’s design reflects the commuting patterns of Indian cities, where the average daily travel distance is less than 35 kilometres and car occupancy rates remain low. By targeting the underserved small car segment, Vayve Mobility aims to deliver a practical solution for everyday transportation.
With its focus on efficiency, sustainability, and affordability, Eva is set to make waves at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, offering a glimpse into the future of urban commuting in India.
