HFN has launched the HFN Farmer Store Franchise Programme, aiming to expand the retail reach of value-added products created by Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and farmer cooperatives across India.
The programme builds on HFN’s work with farmer groups, helping them move beyond primary agricultural production and create branded, value-added products. Under this model, millets are processed into millet flakes, mangoes into pickles, figs into jams and lemons into lemonade, enabling farmer communities to capture greater value from their produce.
HFN is currently connected with a large network of farmer groups across the country, several of which have developed into profitable enterprises. The company said many of these organisations now generate annual revenues of more than ₹5 crore.
Through the new franchise programme, HFN Farmer Stores will bring products made by these farmer groups directly to consumers while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs to operate retail businesses.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the farm-to-consumer value chain by giving farmer groups greater access to markets, enabling entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses and offering consumers access to locally sourced, value-added products.
The franchise model will also create a direct retail channel for products developed by farmer communities, supporting their transition from producers of raw agricultural commodities to owners of branded products.
With the launch, HFN is looking to extend its farmer-focused model into organised retail while creating a platform that connects farmers, entrepreneurs and consumers through a common retail network.
