Bagelstein, the France-born bagel and café brand, has expanded its India footprint with the opening of its third outlet, marking its entry into Bengaluru’s fast-growing foodservice market. The new store is located at Pyramid Food Court in EGL Business Park, a prominent commercial hub in the city.
Founded in 2011, Bagelstein entered India in 2025 with launches in Hyderabad and Delhi. Its move into Bengaluru signals a strategic push into one of the country’s most competitive and high-potential food and beverage markets. The city is widely regarded as a preferred destination for international foodservice brands, supported by a strong organised dining ecosystem, a young consumer base and high daily footfall across business and retail districts.
Bengaluru currently ranks among India’s top three foodservice markets after Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, with over 110,000 outlets and industry growth estimated at 8–13 percent annually. Bagelstein’s management views the city as a natural fit for its global positioning, which blends quick-service efficiency with a café-style experience. Bengaluru-based mentalist Abhishek Majitya attended the opening as a special guest.
The new outlet features Bagelstein’s signature menu, including freshly baked bagels, a range of spreads and sandwiches, desserts and coffee-based beverages. The store design reflects the brand’s European aesthetic paired with informal, playful visual elements, consistent with its international identity.
The expansion comes amid sustained growth in India’s café and casual dining segment, driven largely by younger consumers adopting Western-style food and beverage formats. Industry estimates suggest the café market is growing at 15–20 percent annually, with Bengaluru emerging as a leading hub for experience-driven dining concepts.
Bagelstein has outlined ambitious plans to scale its presence in the country, targeting 100 outlets across major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad by 2029.
Commenting on the brand’s India journey, Gaurav Marya, Founder and Chairman of Franchise India, said Bagelstein’s bold positioning and gourmet offering resonate strongly with India’s youth-led café culture. Ravish Malhotra, Area Developer for Bagelstein Bengaluru, said the city’s dynamic food scene makes it an ideal market for bagels as a disruptive and emerging snack category.
With its Bengaluru launch, Bagelstein strengthens its presence in India’s expanding QSR and café landscape, underscoring growing confidence among global foodservice brands in the country’s organised dining and retail market.
