Women’s participation in business and services has witnessed a record growth in the past couple of years. Business and services are no longer dependent only on men but are swiftly being equally distributed to women.
In a news report, RituparnaChakraborty, co-founder at TeamLease Services, says “There are currently over 40,000 women in logistics and delivery roles in India constituting over 6.77% of the total delivery pie.”
Franchise India spoke to women entrepreneurs and mompreneurs to know more about their side of the story.
Quitting a Job to become an Entrepreneur
Krishna TamaliaVora, Founder, Mom’s Therapy shares her preference to start her business over her regular job.
Krishna TamaliaVora, a lawyer by profession, says, "Thanks to my wonderful family, I have been encouraged to step out of the traditional walls of Indian society and explore my entrepreneur skills. Once I stepped out of this cultural comfort zone, I became a Director and a Legal Advisor. This is when I realized that women can play many roles. It is when you move out of the comfort zone, that you realize your full potential and get to exhibit your subtle strength.
I would like to tell all mompreneurs to believe in them and step out of the boundaries of a home or the 9-5 routine.
Women can play a lot of roles in her life then why give up one more role, which we can play very well. I can say that as a Women Entrepreneur, don't hold yourself back. Go ahead and achieve your dreams; the sky is the limit. Have faith and trust in yourself. Today, I am strong and positive, surviving and working towards realizing my dream, and all this is possible because of the undaunted support from my family,” adds Krishna.
ShipraNayyar, Founder, OZEL BIR SEY, gives an insight on why women prefer becoming an entrepreneur over their regular jobs. Shipra says, “Many women take a break from their career when they have a baby to focus full time on their child. Becoming a mompreneur gives women the flexibility to effectively use their time to create businesses which work for the best from both the schedule and scale standpoint, therefore maintain work-life balance.”
She adds that “Being an entrepreneur is hard but it is equally rewarding. It lets you grow your passion into something meaningful as well as creates opportunities for others. Now, with easier access to markets and resources, women empowerment programs act as a catalyst to accelerate the growth of women entrepreneurs, making it easier to take the first steps.”
