These Indore based brands prove that embracing franchise model is the IN thing
It is surely a proven fact that franchise is an ideal way of expanding a business. May it be top brands or start-ups, franchise model plays an anchor role for all. Here are few Indore based brands which are having a smooth run taking the franchise pathway.

The global success stories of start-ups and budding entrepreneurs and their brands are known to all. But talking about the local angle, there are a lot of cities that are emerging as a dream destination for small brands to turn big. One of them is Central India’s favorite destination Indore. We connected to a few Indore based brands that have excelled tremendously in this commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh via franchise model. These brands not just gave better prospects but also offered manifold growth to their franchise partners. Let’s know what makes these names famous in Indore and beyond.

Indian Threads
Shirt Company, Indian Threads started with a simple idea. After dropping out of college in January 2015, Abhishek Rawal and Vishi Porwal started this brand for their love for design and fashion. What started as an online web store quickly grew into much more than just selling a few shirts. After numerous door-to-door marketing strategies, the brand succeeded and now sells over 6000 Shirts every month through its 120 vendors and retail outlets from all over Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan & Maharashtra. Rawal quips: ‘We have also started adding the vendors and retail outlets from South. Last year (2017-18) we closed our books at a turnover of Rs. 80 Lakh.’

Expansion ahead
Indian Threads is planning to expand in different product types in 2018. They will be soon launching Indian Threads T-Shirts too and plan to venture into men’s accessories, like neckties, bow ties, cufflinks, pocket squares and a lot more. We are also working on expanding the Indian brand by exporting to different countries.

Franchising and opportunity for investors
Indian Threads is planning to give a Zero investment business model to aspiring entrepreneurs. Anyone can take the Indian Threads franchise rights and open a store at a zero investment. The brand takes no royalty fees.

Khilonewala
Khilonewala is India’s No. 1 Toy Library that was formed in 2011 with the vision of providing affordable access to unlimited toys to every child in the country is moving swiftly towards achieving it. The brand has a current turnover of 5 million per annum. Khilonewala is present in 17 States, 40 Cities with 55 + franchise centres. It has so far delivered 1,50,000 Toy Kits. It rents out Toys, Games & Books to kids of age group between 1 to 12 years.

Expansion
Abhishek Jain, Founder, Khilonewala tells us: ‘We at Khilonewala believe that this concept is the future of NextGen Play as we know that Toys are getting expensive day by day and buying them will not be affordable for masses anymore.  We plan to reach 100+ centres by end of 2018 or Mid 2019 via franchising.’

Franchising and opportunity for investors
Franchising is the way to go forward for our brand as this is basically a home based business model. We are targeting our brand as a low-cost high return business model which comes with Zero Royalty for a franchisee. Our brand has a very low operational cost which makes it more attractive in terms of overall returns. We seek individuals who can take it forward in their vicinity with their better understanding of local market and customers. We have been able to make such a low-cost model because of improved business infrastructure and low property rentals we got in Indore. This helps us to pass on the cost benefits to our investors which help us in growing at the fastest rate in this industry.

Chatar Patar
Originating from Indore, this QSR brand has come a long way. Chatar Patar was started in 2011 and is also the first trademarked Pani puri brand in India. Founder of the brand, Prashant Kulkarni and his wife Aarti were working in Infosys earlier. All thanks to the roadside pani puri they had which made them fall ill and launch a brand called ‘Chatar Patar’. Their Innovative business model delivers high-profit margins, and as a franchise partner, one can generate a good return on investment.

Expansion
Prashant says: ‘We are expanding all our brands internationally as well. We are targeting a couple of stores in Canada and Dubai market is also on our cards. 2018 will be a huge milestone in our journey.

Franchising and opportunity for investors
After around 120 successful franchisees for Chatar Patar, the group has also launched newer brands like Boxo Burger, Andeywala, and Shake Chili. It seeks prospective franchisees who genuinely have a deep interest and knowledge in food. It chose Indore as its headquarters because of its geographic advantage and being almost equidistant from everywhere.
