In a recent development, Indian Premier League team Chennai Super Kings is all set to cash in on its fan base by launching resort- style health club in its home city Chennai. It is a kind of face saving exercise after the IPL match-fixing scandal.
It is expected that health club will be in operational mode by the end of 2014. In a candid conversation with ET Chennai Super Kings (CSK) business head Chandrabhan Singh informed that health club will serve as the platform for a growing number of Chennai fans to meet and know each other. As of now, CSK has a fan base of over 21,000 paid members. Depending upon the success rate of health club, company will formulate its strategy to penetrate into other Indian cities.
