BookMyShow, India's largest online entertainment ticketing platform, to include live events as a full-stack management model in order to move beyond movie ticketing. It is evolving from a ticketing-only platform to all things entertainment.
Ashish Hemrajani, Founder of BookMyShow, said, "Any out-of-home experience that a consumer may want—be it a movie, play, or other live events—it should be on BookMyShow."
BookMyShow is planning to grow its non-movie business significantly over the next 3 years.
"In 3 years, I would like 50% of our revenue to come from movies and the rest to come from non-movies. That is not just plays and events but all the things put together that we are doing, like our media and ad sales, sponsorship, etc. If that is the blend, then we will be very pleased," Hemrajani added.
Over the past year, BookMyShow has collaborated with international players to launch marquee events like an Ed Sheeran concert and Disney musical Aladdin to India. The company also hosted the first world premiere of art entertainment firm Cirque Du Soleil's show 'Bazzar' in India. It further ventured into ticketing for international events in sports, live entertainment and immersive experiences, bringing them to the country over the last 2 years.
