
Aakash Institute, known for providing coaching for medical entrance exams, is focusing on increasing its presence in the western and southern region of the country. “We are looking forward to add seven to eight centres each year. Presently, we have a network of more than 100 centres. Out of these 36 are franchisee run, spread across 21 states of the country,” says Aakash Chaudhry, Director, Aakash Educational Services Ltd.
Aakash Educational Services Ltd was incepted in 1988 by J. C. Chaudhry. He started training students as a botany professor for medical entrance exams. This practice eventually evolved and led to the formulation of Aakash Institute. Apart from classroom coaching, Aakash i-Tutor, Virtual classrooms centre (VCC), e-learning solutions and distance learning program are also there under the Aakash brand. They are making efforts to reach out to tier- II and III cities of the country.
They began franchising in 1988. Their requirements in terms of investment varies from city to city. It generally ranges from Rs 70 to 80 lakh to almost Rs 1.5 crore. In terms of area, 4000 to 5000 square feet carpet area is needed for opening an Aakash centre.
