The Indian wellness industry is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12 per cent for the next five years to achieve Rs 1, 50,000 crore-turnover by 2019-20, a leading industry body said on Friday.
According to a report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci), the Indian wellness market is a huge business opportunity waiting to be harnessed, with significant scope for penetration, especially in areas like nutrition, rejuvenation and fitness.
"During FY15, the Indian wellness industry was estimated at Rs 85,000 crore. Bolstered by increasing awareness, push from the insurance industry and government, it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12% for the next 5 years."

That’s why here are a few tips for the aspiring fitness instructors to try their luck in starting a spin class:
1. Learn the craft:
You cannot be an instructor or start a class without learning the craft. Even if you are planning to open one with the idea of ‘hiring best instructors’, in your head, then also you have to learn the craft.
One cannot excel in business without learning the basics, because there are people way smarter, who are ready to overtake or con you, within blinks of eyes.
Moreover unless you know your work, how will you make it the best or straighten the bottle neck problems!
2. Time Allocation:
As you are the one, who is going to take classes or run the business, which is why you will have to fix some rules for all.
If you are instructing the batches, then make sure to allocate time for warm up, stretching and cool down. One just cannot take the risk of starting the rides, without flexing the muscles, to avoid sprain and pain.
If you are preparing charts for 40-60 minutes long rides, then make sure to schedule 5-10 minutes in the beginning and at the end of the rides for warm up, stretching and cool down.
3. Quality assurance:
Assure to provide quality of training you are going to provide to the customer. Not just training or instructor but good music, lightning, flexibility too adds value to the brand.
If there is a batch of students, then go for EDM music, for young-adults go for 80’s rock and a little play with light and techno, will attract more and more customers.
You can provide headphones for those, who have their personal playlists or alternate options.
As there will be around 20-30 people in one batch, try to pay equal attention to each and every candidate, especially the ones, who are a little shy or intimidated, till they get into their comfort zone. This too will send a good message across the locality and will help in making your brand reach to others.
As the cycles, music system, light and air-conditioners, all are machines and run on electricity, it is advisable to keep backups.
To attend the technical problems related to machines, keep a mechanic’s number handy or hire a technician, who will also help in solving the electricity related problems. Keep an inverter to solve the electricity emergency problems or other power backups, to keep the systems running.
