Overpaying technicians

Some salon owners begin to bribe technicians, right from the beginning, that causes trouble later. A new salon owner has to ask what commission she can really afford to pay over the long term. Now, the question arises, if not with a high commission, how should salon owners lure top-quality technicians? Convince the technician about the salon credibility and excite them about your market reach and demand. This would surely buy them for your salon.

Not Caring About Right Location

Location can make or break a business. The salon should be located in a place where your target customers live. The salons near shopping centres, local markets, public places or malls lure the adequate attention of pedestrians, hence grab better footfall. People like to frequent a place with the essential facilities such as car parking and easy access to the main roads. In fact, the salon sign, hoardings or public promotions can make a big difference in footfall.

No background check of staff

Don’t rush into hiring new staff members. You must give acute attention towards the background, screening of your would-be employee’s training, education, job history, and abilities. Some owners get into trouble when they trust the employee right off the bat and don’t screen their skills carefully. It’s a good idea to give a prospective employee a hands-on test. It’s a fail-proof solution to hire on a trial basis, try the new technician for one or two weeks before giving a final offer.

Not Paying Attention to Designing the Salon

People visit a salon for a comfortable haircut or getting other services in an amicable environment. Make sure that the design suits the taste of your clientele. One of the most important aspects of running a salon successfully is how you decorate its walls and what quality of furniture you have.
The main aim here is to make your customers feel comfortable.

Social media marketing

Social media is a big platform to promote your business. Don’t underestimate the power of the digital world. In the world of smartphones, people tend to miss on seeing outside their phone, but would never miss on social media promotions. Often salon owners make adequate promotions of their salons through various advertising channels like newspapers, hoardings, pamphlets etc, but miss on social media marketing. Sometimes, despite having their brand page on Facebook, Twitter, etc, do not update the site regularly. With your potential clients being on social media channels like Twitter and Facebook, ensure that your salon business is visible to them on those channels.

Turning a deaf ear on employees

Your employees are valuable as they are equipped to create a niche of your brand in the market. Address problems as soon as they come up with any. You have to make things comfortable for the employee because even though you pay the rent, advertisements and everything else, your staff is the face of your brand.
