In a conversation with Vibha Khanna Rastogi, Director, Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa, she tells us about her brand, the entrepreneurial journey and what distinguishes her brand from other spa brands
Kindly give us a brief about your brand, Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa.
Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa is a Boutique Spa located in a very posh area in the heart of South Delhi, 15-20 minutes away from Delhi Airport. It has calm and serene surroundings with beautifully landscaped outdoors. The exterior of the spa has been designed to look like a Traditional Thai Pagoda. To complete the Zen Look, we have tall Bamboo Plantations, green cover and a water body that extends the Spa look well beyond the Spa. Sawadhee is a traditional Thai greeting which means ‘Welcome’. Conceptualized with the aim of bringing the rich Thai Spa culture to India, the opulent beauty spa has beautiful, luxurious interiors with serene and subtle tones and textures that embrace you the moment you enter its warm and appealing environment. The elegant décor perfectly sets the mood for a thoroughly invigorating journey toward physical and spiritual well being.
How has been your entrepreneurial journey?
Over the past 4 and a half years, it has been a very interesting journey for Sawadhee. We have slowly but surely built a big name for ourselves in the spa industry and people have been very happy with our services. In these times of living and dealing with the high-stress levels of day to day life, we try to encourage our clients to slow down, take time off and come and celebrate their own selves.
What all services can the customers expect from your brand?
Sawadhee Spa adheres to the best global standards and practices to create a world-class spa centre that patrons would love to come back to time and again. We lay a lot of emphasis on the quality of all the therapies, the cleanliness and hygiene levels, décor of the spa, relaxing atmosphere and professional and friendly attitude of the staff. Our therapists are well-trained professionals who have been trained in the nuances of Thai Hospitality. They undergo rigorous training sessions every week with the in-house trainers as well as guest trainers from outside. Sawadhee has a very wide range of therapies and lays a lot of emphasis on the technique and quality of each therapy so that they are able to execute every therapy with perfection. At Sawadhee, we try and build a long-term relationship with each and every client we have. People are aspiring to get fitter and live healthier and are therefore realizing the need to de-stress and pamper their own body and soul, which is where we come in.
What are some of the USPs of Sawadhee Traditional Thai Spa?
At Sawadhee, it is the continuous endeavour to provide their guests with the very best of Services and Facilities. Space is a luxury we offer to the clients (5,000 sq. ft. of area). They have individual Spa Suites of 180- 200 sq. ft. of area for every client with all built in amenities and private Steam, Shower and Washrooms. Couple Spa suites are spread over 300 sq. ft. each and are luxuriously designed and equipped with all amenities, along with a Private Jacuzzi. We follow high standards of cleanliness, with a special emphasis on hygiene. The Spa is gently lit with dim lighting throughout and has soft Thai music playing. We have a wide range of therapies on our menu and keep changing and upgrading it from time to time so as to keep up with the latest trends in the International Spa World. Herbal and organic products of the highest quality sourced from India and abroad are used in the Spa to promote Good Health and Wellness of the clients. We use our own blend of custom-made oils in 6 different fragrances for the massages. Our body scrubs are made in-house from pure ingredients like Chocolate, Honey, Olive Oil, Yogurts, Essential Oils, Oats, Coffee, Red Wine, etc. They are completely organic and do not contain any chemicals or preservatives.
Let us know about some of the challenges you faced with your brand.
We had to take up a centrally located large space in South Delhi where we would have the flexibility to create a beautiful oasis of peace, calm and tranquillity, both from inside and outside which was a daunting and challenging task.It was an expensive proposition as well as a huge financial risk, but our conviction and belief in our product gave us the confidence to build such a large space. The biggest challenge was to make people aware of our presence as we are located in an isolated commercial space, with hardly any footfall. It has taken us some time, but we have definitely managed to create a good name and image for our spa.
