Newly opened 11th JW Marriott Property in China offers adequate wellness

Located within the world-class Phoenix International Golf Course and close to Anji’s legendary bamboo forests, the JW Marriott Hotel Zhejiang Anji’s design celebrates its stunning natural surroundings and was designed in partnership with Karen Wang Interiors.

A scenic resort destination for Shanghai, Anji is known for its lush bamboo landscape that has inspired poets and artists throughout the ages. Situated at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta, the JW Marriott Hotel Zhejiang Anji offers holistic wellness and tranquil environment to the guests.

“The decision to bring the JW Marriott brand to Anji was simple – we want our guests to experience the unique charm and rich culture of this remarkable area,” said Henry Lee, Greater China Chief Operations Officer (COO) for Marriott International.

He further added, “For those who like to mix business and leisure, we offer a one-of-a-kind experience, all in close proximity to both Shanghai and Hangzhou. Above all, the new JW Marriott Hotel Zhejiang Anji is a destination for relaxation and inspiration.”

The 228 guest room property was designed with neutral tones to celebrate the property’s natural surroundings and encourage ultimate relaxation. Organic accents including carved wood screens, natural materials and soft lighting take direct inspiration from Anji’s stunning landscape, while spacious en-suite bathrooms boast rain-showers and indulgent bath amenities.

Equipped with a Health Club that offers a range of state-of-the-art fitness equipment by Life Fitness, the property has a 16,570 sq ft wellness area, which offers customized yoga/Taichi course to invite guests to do certain exercises indoor or outdoor, rounding off the hotel’s wellness facilities and linked via smart dressing rooms equipped with rain-showers and complementary bath amenities, is a 1.4-meter heated indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Further, in an exclusive conversation with Wellness India, Zhao disclosed some un-known facts about the newly opened property’s wellness arrangements.

Kindly elaborate on the wellness arrangements offered at the recently inaugurated 11th property of JW Marriott in China.
Our restaurants provide organic and fresh ingredients for the food and beverage so that the customers can always choose healthy food and drinks during their stay while enjoying the beautiful landscape and natural environment. Moreover, since our property is located at the towering mountains and bamboo forest, customers are here for clean air and to enjoy the pure serenity.

Have you customised the services offered in this property as per the country's preferences? What all changes have been made in its spa/salon services?
As our customers are the accomplished ones and more and more of those customers care about well-being, we have customized Yoga/Taichi course to invite guests to do certain exercises indoor or outdoor. We will have professional coach for these courses to teach the guests how to do it properly. Our property is located in the Phoenix Golf Club, so many of our customers are attracted by the world-class 27-hole golf course. The golf players are coming for golf and the other guests can also go to the practice course to learn. Our spa is not opened yet. And we don’t have salon in our property.

How is the scope and demand of beauty & wellness business in China? What would be your strategy to conquer it?
Nowadays, Beauty & Wellness business is mostly for the accomplished who has time and can afford this. Especially for the venues within luxury hotels, people always think it is expensive for them to consume this kind of service within hotel. Our strategy will be to launch some room packages including Yoga/Taichi course, as well as golf packages so that in-house guests can enjoy the wellness facility and service during their stay at no/low cost. Meanwhile, they can try our facility and service first so that they will know the advantages and benefits. In addition to that, we will always emphasize wellness to our guests and actually most of our guests know well about the benefits of health and wellness, since they are coming to escape from the noise and high PM from the cities.
