How to maintain health during festival season without compromising on taste

Festival season brings high calories consumption of calorie loaded sweets and is often associated with health risks including high blood sugar, hypertension and weight gain.

Festive seasons bring along celebrations of customs and rituals which go hand in hand with sweets and culinary delights. The season witnesses high consumption of calorie loaded sweets and is often associated with health risks including high blood sugar, hypertension and weight gain.

However, most fatal ailments can be prevented with the right habits and regular monitoring of calorie intake and balancing it with the right exercises, especially for patients with cardiovascular problems, diabetes and obesity. Climate change also aggravate blood pressure & heart related problem in people.

  • Maintain your exercise routine even during festive days, use a step counter to monitor your daily level of exercise
  • Avoid eating excess sweets and high calorie/ fried foods
  • Keep a regular check of your blood pressure with the help of a blood pressure monitor
  • Keep a regular check of your blood glucose level with the help of a blood glucose monitor
  • Keep a check on your feasting and stick to small portion sizes
  • Include salads and fruits in your meals
  • Stay away from chemicals in preserved/packaged sweets as they can harm the kidneys and liver
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your system clean and avoid liquor to keep the festival sacred and safe
  • Avoid consuming mass produced food items. They could be carriers of diarrheal bacteria  
  • Silver coated sweets are toxic and unhygienic. It’s best to avoid, or get them without the coating
