How Pune revolutionizes Indian wellness space by producing health-tech start-up

No one can deny the fact that after Bengaluru, it’s the city of Pune in Maharashtra has emerged fast as the next start-up hub. With good source of talent from IT companies, the city has developed enterprise culture.

Recently, Pune has witnessed a surge in the number of health tech start-ups, a category that is burning bright right now. Creating a buzz in the start-up ecosystem, the city has been producing pool of talented entrepreneurs who are designing and creating innovative products to change the face of India’s healthcare.

Wellness India has penned down few interesting Pune-based health-tech start-ups that have made their mark in the industry: For affordable medical services
Cost of a treatment may vary from one country to another., a mobile app gives an opportunity to the user to compare various procedures available in the city and allow them the discretion of picking the most suitable one.

Launched in 2012, (PMMT) leverages over 1500 tie-ups with reputed hospitals and doctors in India and Turkey, to provide the best service to international patients. The portal, with its patient-friendly approach is driven by the commitment of providing end-to-end medical assistance to needy ones.

“Healthcare start-ups are revolutionising the way people approach medical institutions. We are not only encouraging these institutions to maintain competitive costs, but also driving them to improve the quality of services by generating stiff competition in the industry," said Anurav Rane - CEO -

Livehealth: Providing medical records on mobile
Pune-based Livehealth is a platform that delivers medical records on mobile, connects you with your health providers and helps you understand your medical records better. It further helps you get your medical records instantly from your health provider, better understand them and make informed decisions about your health. Founded by Abhimanyu Bhosale and Mukund Malani, this health tech start-up wants to bring the eco-system experience in healthcare industry, where health providers and customers are connected in a single environment.

"Pune is underestimated. It is one of the emerging cities with great creative brains. Pune has been believed to be the students place and students are changing the way entrepreneurs used to become in the past. Pune is convenient and comfortable place for start-ups. It’s interesting that many of the aspiring healthcare start-ups across the county are from Pune," said Abhimanyu Bhosale, CEO & Co-founder, LiveHealth.

Allizhealth: Centralized repository of health info
Chinmoy Mishra, Gaurav Vij and Dhairya Gupta has built a consumer focused health & wellness platform for early identification tracking and management of health risk and conditions. Based out of Pune, Allizhealth helps in the transition from curative to preventive care.

Praxify: Make HealthIT Seamless
Founded by Abhijit Gupta and Ram Sahasranam, Praxify is a cloud-based physician practice management solution with electronic medical record (EMR) suite of products and services, catering to the needs of doctors and clinics.

Like any other healthcare companies, this start-up venture was also conceptualized from the struggle many of us face with health IT. Back in 2009, when Gupta’s mom was hospitalised, a severe medication interaction with her specialist would have skipped if health tech service like this was available. Thus, the idea of bringing technology handy, pooped in his brain and one year down the line, Praxify was founded.

These start-ups are indicating the rise of health-tech companies in Pune and making the city a tough competitor for rest of the start-up hubs. To know more about such interesting start-up stories, stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter account.
