The company has came into being in the year 2000 and created a niche for itself by offering exceptional staffing programs, corporate health and fitness management and programs, superior fitness center design and enhancing lives of employees at big corporates like Wipro, Dell, Infosys and Google.
As one of the leading health and wellness companies across India, Medifit Consultants Pvt Ltd is the parent company of Cricketer Virat Kohli’s partnering firm Chisel Fitness LLP.
WI Bureau talked to Dr. Shardul Sinha, Managing Director, Medifit Consultants Pvt Ltd, to know more about the corporate fitness programmes and the company which has been recently joined by Kohli to promote fitness aggressively.
About corporate fitness programme
Medifit started in the year 2000 and presently we have 175 corporate clients across India. We are present in 16 cities in India. We are catering to the big corporates like Infosys, Wipro, Dell, Microsoft, Google and many more. We provide services to them, set up a fitness center to them, buy equipments for them and provide them manpower. Now, manpower here is certified from big brand and in fact, soon we are bringing all the fitness programmes here starting from free hand workouts and different workouts for the beginners, meant for the advance stage fitness also.
Opportunity in corporate fitness space
The limited players in the fitness industry offering corporate fitness programmes is an opportunity for us, that’s why we are spreading our presence. Medifit fitness is the pioneer in this segment. In fact, any corporate knows what Medifit is. This is what right now we are encashing to and trying to spread across our name in the market.
Steps taken to reach the corporates
In our case, word of mouth spread. Usually, a new corporate fitness center establishes in the market, they know Medifit is already exiting in the market and is positioned at number 1 position in the market. So, there are people who approach us to set-up fitness centers for them. When you talk about big corporates like Wipro, Microsoft and Google, obviously we’ve created a niche in the market and when corporate people go to these companies, they spread across the buzz about the market player and thus, we received calls for the fitness services.
No plans to franchise
Since Medifit is purely into corporates, there is no franchising here. At present, what we are trying to do is, we ourselves are spreading reach of Medifit to the corporates. At present, we are India and very soon we will start operating in Dubai and Abu Dhabi also in Middle East.
Expansion plans of Medifit
At present, we are spreading our presence in big corporates not just in India but internationally also. We recently to open operations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and next would Sri Lanka. We want to cover as much as Asian markets and later would serve in other international destinations.
Views over fitness market
Fitness is a billion dollars market, in fact, people, specially the current generation young India as termed by Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi is keen on taking fitness as an essential part of their lifestyle. Today, people are much aware of their fitness level and on top of that, since celebrities are endorsing fitness in the industry, this has become a very wide spread niche thing. So, definitely, the fitness market has huge scope and opportunity in the country.
Plans to associate with AYUSH
Absolutely, our next step would be the same. At present, we are not in conversation with the government, but definitely we will be soon.
