Dentzz, the speciality clinics chain in Dental Care space is amalgamating the expertise with cutting age technology to offer painless experience to the patients across the country and in Middle-East. Thus talking about the speciality, services offered, dental symptoms, growing consciousness and future strategies of expansion, Shantanu Jaradi, Founder & Chairman, Dentzz - Dental Care Centres spoke to

How been the journey of Dentzz so far and its contribution to the dental industry?
Dentzz was started in Mumbai with just two centres. We were the first brand to have a multi-city presence and the first Indian brand to have an international presence. When Dentzz Dental Care Centres were started around 11 years back, the scenario of dentistry was very different from what it is today. There were only standalone practices and no brands involved in the field of dentistry and there was hardly any awareness about the way in which technology could benefit the sphere of dentistry.

Because there was such a big gap in the market, there was no major awareness about life-changing procedures like smile makeovers and other cosmetic dental procedures like dental implants and full mouth reconstruction. For me it was a significant to create a brand that offers the best in dentistry, making it a more patient-centric practise rather than a doctor centric practise, not only in terms of procedures and technology, but also the way in which dentistry is delivered on a day-to-day basis in terms of patient experience and soft skills.

Please educate us about the services provided in India and abroad?
Our services can be broadly divided into two sections, one being the basic dentistry and other being the advanced form of dentistry. In basic dentistry we provide the regular dental treatments like filling up cavities and performing root canals to name a few, while in advanced dental procedures, there are a gamut of life-changing services we offer. Some of them include smile makeovers wherein not just the smile, but the entire appearance of a person is changed completely by a scientifically and an artistically designed newswire.

Advanced treatments also include Dental implants which are used for the replacement of missing teeth. A complex reconstruction is recommended if someone has neglected their oral health care for a long time like half their teeth are missing or are in a non-functional state, or are handicapped enough to not perform the basic task of eating.

What makes Dentzz different from other brands?
We have the best highly-qualified doctors on board and we follow a procedure where-in we evaluate all aspects of their dental skills and aptitude before taking them on board. They then undergo a rigorous training program to ensure they match all standards and set protocols. We have in-house specialists from all areas of dentistry who have been trained globally from countries like Germany, Australia and USA.

We are technologically-advanced and boast of high-tech equipments like dental CT scan, laser machines, 3D printing of crowns, and microscopes for root canals. Whether it is the calming atmosphere of our reception, or the gentle mannerisms of the dentist, we guarantee that any fear or anxiety the patient may have is eased instantaneously. Some of our centres actually boast of comforting lounges with recliners designed to offer comfort to patients after they have undergone a major surgery.

What are the most common symptoms of dental problems and how differently you handle it?
Many a times what happens is when people report a symptom, it can always be avoided with pro-active dental care measures like regular visits to the dentist and hygiene measures. When the symptom actually increases, then more complex procedure needs to be done. Root canal is often dreaded to be a painful procedure. But, with the technology at Dentzz we ensure that the procedure is painless.

While we perform a root canal at Dentzz, we make use of a microscope which is called endodontic microscope. All the root canals are performed under the usage of isolation methods like rubberdams to prevent any infection from growing in the tooth. In some cases we also use lasers in root canals to ensure that the success rate is almost boosted to 100 percent.

Any changes over the years in the age groups that visits for check-ups or dental treatments?
Over the years there have been multiple changes. On a broader level people have become more aware and pro-active. Earlier people used to wait till the time they were unable to eat and swallow and would end up with a full-mouth reconstruction being done. Today, teenagers falling under the age bracket of 16–19 years don’t prefer to wait till their late twenties to get their teeth checked or to get a major correction done. They are aware that today there is an option of invisible braises wherein they can flaunt their enamels without being conscious and within a span of just 12 to 18 months their teeth are aligned and corrected well, thus eliminating the need to go in for a complex smile makeover in the near future.

What is the market presence of Dentzz Dental Care Centres in India and International market?
Considering the Indian markets we have our presence in Tier I metropolitan cites like Mumbai and Delhi, while internationally we have our presence in the Middle-eastern markets and Dubai.

What are the initiatives that you are undertaking currently to sustain the frontier position in the market?
Right from the cost-conscious to the quality conscious aspect, there has been a colossal move in the consumer mind-set. This has spiked the demand for a brand like ours. We have a gamut of patients travelling to our centres in Mumbai and Delhi from other metros and tier 2 and 3 towns to get a superior dental treatment. Rather than focussing on active marketing campaigns to just pull-in patients, our philosophy is very foundation-oriented and we control the market through word-of-mouth and we definitely have our protocols in place to help us do that.

What are your plans of expansion?
We already have a very sturdy presence in Mumbai and Delhi in terms of our target group market share. We plan to have our presence across all major metros over the upcoming years while focusing on having an optimal spread that is focussed on the bottom-line. The strategy for expansion is based on intrinsic cash flows which is more than enough to sustain the company’s growth for the coming years.
