The official make-up partner for Festival De Cannes, L’Oréal Paris, the global beauty brand, has launched Cannes 2017 collection, bringing Deepika Padukone as a global ambassador of the brand this year. The collection is inspired by summery day and glamorous night colors at Cannes. It includes illuminating True Match Lumi Liquid and Powder Highlighters and the intense Tint Caresse Cushion Lipstick range. The range will be available across L’Oréal Paris counters and leading e-commerce portals across the country. Thus, on the occasion of announcing Bollywood star Deepka Paudukone as a global ambassador of the brand recently in Mumbai, Ragjeet Garg, General Manager, L’Oréal Paris spoke to Wellnessindia.com.
What is different with this year’s Cannes collection?
This complete new range called Cannes Collection 2017 is inspired by summery day and glamorous night at Cannes. The range includes illuminating True Match Lumi Liquid and Powder Highlighters and the intense Tint Caresse Cushion Lipstick range. The collection has been especially curated by the team of international experts to match the splendor of Cannes red carpet. Being red carpet experts, we have introduced best of glamorous make-up collection this year which is best of red carpet through Cannes. The whole intention is to show how we bring a life at Cannes closer to the consumer.
With this collection how are you representing the glory of Cannes of 70 years?
I think it’s a big honor for L’Oréal Paris to finish 20 years of its existence with Cannes film festival which is celebrating its 70th year. The entire concept celebrates the life at Cannes. This collection is not just about a particular year, but it’s about what really goes behind Cannes. The inspiration is the day look and a night look at Cannes that’s what L’Oréal Paris has brought to the Indian consumers. Hence, we should look forward to the kind of looks we will create this year at Cannes.
How will L’Oréal leverage on the image of Deepika Padukone as a debutant global ambassador of the brand on board?
We are the global beauty brand. With Deepika we are all set for the red carpet at Cannes. There is a big pool of ambassadors who will walk the red carpet on different days wearing different looks. Well, it is just the beginning. Further you will see how we leverage on her image and her partnership with L’Oréal Paris. We hope to do some wonderful stuff together.
What will be the market presence of the collection?
The collection will be available at L’Oréal Paris counters and the leading eCommerce portals across the country.
In India how makeup trends have been evolving every year and what is different this year?
The trend is evolving every year. This year it’s all about matte which is a big trend in lipsticks. People normally like to wear matte lipsticks with long wear or intensity in color or attire that they wear and that’s what the way make-up is evolving. Similarly in hair care a lot of people are wearing highlights and doing different hair colors and that’s how the entire cosmetic market is evolving. It’s not a specific product, but as you go along, different trends come together.
How is L’Oréal representing the Indian diva’s at Cannes with this collection?
The amount of shades we have introduced in this year’s Cannes collection caters to everyone in India and not anyone in specific and that’s how L’Oréal Paris introduces itself. When it comes to colors, we represent different pallets of colors and not a specific color. When you look at India all colors come together and our collection also includes red to orange to blue to burgundies among others put together for different skin tones and hair types.
Our Ambassadors, Deepika Padukone will walk the carpet on 17th and 18th, Ashwarya Rai Bachchan on 19th and 20th and Sonam Kapoor on 21st and 22nd of this month. All our ambassadors will be seen in glamorous avatar at Cannes.
What red carpet trends we can expect this year in terms of make-up?
We can expect a lot of day look, night look, both being carried by our ambassadors in a very different way. This year is all about celebrating life at Cannes.
