Bengaluru-based startup mTatva eases complex medical prescriptions with mobile app

Claims to be the world’s first company to cater to post prescription needs of patients, mTatva’s HealthPIE app provides medication reminders for the entire family, stores the medical records and duly reminds patients about due date medical tests or vaccin

mTatva’s HealthPIE app functions like a digital doctor/ nurse, creating an exclusive space for digital healthcare in present state of well being. Launched in September 2015, HealthPIE has already earned over 10,000 users in span of few months.

About HealthPIE
This Patient Information and Empowerment System is an mTatva flagship product which empowers patient and brings in efficiency and flexibility to the present healthcare ecosystem. The mobile app aims to empower patient through technology. It enables healthcare providers not just to improve the OPD yield, but also engage the patients effectively.

How HealthPIE function
HealthPIE helps patient consult a doctor and receive prescription on SMS, which is a big value addition to the patient who finds it difficult earlier to understand doctor’s handwriting. And, it is easily referable in future while visiting doctor next time to show him medications you’ve been taking. Moreover, post consultation, the patient receives a document that includes information pertaining to the disease/ ailment that they have been diagnosed with, and thus, educates the patient about it.

The information provided to the patient is written by the doctor, however it’s seamlessly integrated via technology and made available by mTatva the patient walks out of the clinic. Also, the patient gets information and alerts about his medication intake schedule through text alerts. Further, all the medical records including diagnosis report, prescriptions, etc., of the patients are saved on cloud, enabling the patients secure, 24X7 accesses to it that too from anywhere, anytime.

Clients/ customers: We got our first paying customer Telerad RxDx in January' 14. Further, we added quite a few hospitals since then within the year. Though our B2B offering is very successful and adoption is increasing month-by-month, but we saw a gap where we want to give this offering directly to consumers, independent of any hospital they go to and also increase scope of our offerings. This led to our B2C solution offering.

B2C Solution for masses via HealthPIE app:
mTatva is the world’s first company that caters to patients post prescription needs. mTatva’s HealthPIE app has following features:

Post check-up, all the patient has to take a picture of their medical prescription; once it is done the app decodes doctor’s prescription, digitizes it and sends daily reminders to patients about their medication intake.

• The app provides medication reminders for the entire family, stores the patients and his families vital charts (BP, Diabetes, Blood test reports, Pulse rate, etc.), a vaccination chart, which duly reminds patients and their family members, more likely children, as to when they are due for vaccination. 

• It also provides localized disease outbreak alerts for ailments pertaining to hand, foot and mouth infections and will give you tips as to how one can be cautious and avoid getting ill.

• It also gives you an alert to the rest of the family when one of your family members has missed their medication; this feature is more helpful in monitoring parents’ (older parents) medication intake.

• Further, patients can access their health records anytime and anywhere in the world.

The B2C solution offering is based on 3A's which includes; Adherence, Awareness and Access.

Adherence: We make sure that you adhere to treatment and complete it successfully through timely and accurate reminders. Being stick to the medication regimen helps heal faster and also prevents antibiotic resistance. This is especially a problem for the elderly and for children, but sometimes for busy adults too. Problems due to missed medication manifest in many ways: delayed recovery, antibiotic resistance, doubts on the doctor's line of therapy, etc.

Apart from taking medicine on time, it’s also important to administer it in correct dose and manner.

Questions like- Was it 5ml or 2.5ml of syrup? Before food or after meal? 30 minutes before food or just before? mTatva app HealthPIE answer it all.

The other aspect of adherence is about practicing good habits to keep healthy - be it eating right or exercising. mTatva app shows you personalized tips on keeping health intact. It will even prompt you to enter your weight, BP and other vitals, so that, you can monitor yourself and adhere to a healthy living.
