After Portea Medical, Medwell Venture’s Nightingale and various others, India’s leading Apollo Hospitals has debuted into homecare space with a promising staff of over 500 medical professionals.
Known for its exclusive concept of ‘providing healthcare with a human touch’ Apollo Hospitals is all set to create a niche for itself in the Homecare segment and make ‘high quality integrated healthcare accessible’ especially to the ‘elderly, chronically-ill and post-surgery recovery patients’.
Creating a buzz over the debut Apollo Homecare in the city, Dr Prathap C Reddy, Group Chairman had stressed upon the need for an increased attention towards the fast growing geriatric population of the country.
Significantly, while throwing more light on the new service that has been simultaneously opened across three cities in India including Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad, Dr Reddy said, "We will do all we can to give people freedom from diseases and allow them to lead healthy lives.” He further added, "And we promise to reach wherever such care is needed, at rocket speed.”
Reportedly, the Apollo Homecare is expected to reach Bangalore, Kolkata and Ahmedabad over the next few weeks.
Informed, Dr Mahesh Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the hospital chain's new division, “And by end of next year, the service will be available across most of India.”
The Homecare hub comprising over 500 staffers has been launched with an initial investment of Rs 50 crore.
Meanwhile, pointing out how the objective of his team was to ‘add life to the years ahead’ of a person, as opposed to just ‘adding years to somebody's life, Dr Joshi said, “Continuity of care is the primary area of focus for us. Our programme is categorised into three segments: Home Visits (includes collecting samples and delivery of medicines, among other things), Partnership Programmes (comprises assisting the elderly/chronically-ill and helping with the rehabilitation of post-surgery patients) and Nursing Programmes (designed to address a patient's long-term needs at home - from administration of medicine to providing needed treatment). We have put together a group of dedicated staffers who have the needed attitude to serve people.”
Further, Dr Reddy informed, “Technology will play an integral part in providing this service.” He even reiterated the tagline of the group's new offering: Apollo Homecare - We are your family.
