In an exclusive interview to Restaurant India, Amit Bajaj, Owner at Vezlay Foods talks about his love for doing something in vegetarian category.

What made you enter into the business of Soya products?

Being a vegetarian my interest was to enter into food industry with some unique concept. In India we have high vegetarian crowd so people who are looking at these types of products it is for them. We started 4 years before. I spent three years in Europe doing research to start something in vegetarian category and after a long R&D we developed products in Soya. As there are less healthy food options available in market today and that’s why we have brought this concept in the market.

What is the product variety?

We have frozen as well as non-frozen product. We have ready to cook food product as well.

What is the product range?

We are serving Soya Seekh Kabab, Soya Shami Kabab, Soya Tikka, Soya Leg Piece, Soya Nuggets, Soya RoghanJosh amongst others.

How do you see the segment growing in India? What is your market presence?

Right now it’s a niche market. We are available at retail outlets like Modern Bazaar, Sabka Bazaar, Hypercity, Big Bazaar, Easyday and we are also exporting to the US also. We are selling in North India as of now. We are present in Delhi at top retail outlets, modern trade, Walmart. We are in UP, Punjab, Jammu and we are also having our distribution networks in Bihar and MP.

Are you also supplying to hotels and restaurants?

We are supplying to hotels in restaurants, dhabas, and five star hotels. We also do catering.

Who are some of your restaurant and hotel partners?

Janpath Hotel, Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba, Country Inn amongst others.

From where did you source the raw materials?

We import some products as well as we source some of them from local markets, MP, Delhi and other parts of the country. The manufacturing unit is located at Patparganj in Delhi.

How are you connecting your products with the consumer?

Today, there is very less variety of soya options is available in restaurants and it is very good to give a good taste in soya. So, we at Vezlay are promoting a tasty soya affaire.

How are you marketing your products?

We are doing sampling at various events so that customers can taste our products. We do sampling at Walmart, AAHAR and other such exhibitions.

What is the expansion plan?

We are focusing in North India and gradually we will expand to other parts.
