In tete-a-tete with Restaurant India Harsh, Owner, Green House- The Beer Garden talks about his Journey in the world of food.
Born and brought up in Gurgaon Harsh always wanted to set up a brewery since his childhood. He did his schooling from D.P.S Maruti Kunj before he went to Melbourne for pursuing his graduation. After returning back from Melbourne, he showed interest towards the micro brewery industry and opened BrowHouse at Sohna Road, Gurgaon which was closed last year and then he opened his second venture in December 2017. Excerpts from the interview:
Why Green House- The Beer Garden?
I always wanted a proper beer garden where liquors can be served in open. The surrounding is full of greeneries behind our pub. If I am going towards the greenery then why shouldn’t give it a name like Green house or something related to garden. So, after many discussions we came up with the name Green House- The Beer Garden.
What were the challenges faced while setting up a liquor space?
Being a fresher and lacking knowledge in the business was the only challenge I faced. With no helping hand as well as experience things were really difficult for me at the initial stage while setting up the liquor space.
How live performances by artists helps you in flourishing your biz?
We organize live performances basically to attract the millennial customers. If I am getting customers then I should be doing something different regularly that’s why we are now planning to invite “The Indian Ocean Band” soon. Good food can be served anywhere but what helps you in standing odd is the ambience and the atmosphere which is our strong arm. We even take trials of the local bands who want to perform at our pub..
What is Green House Winter Carnival?
People generally shift from beer to other liquors in the winter season. So we came up with an offer which people can’t refuse and can get indulge with. We opened up an offer on our straight drinks. That’s what Green House Winter Carnival is all about.
Who do you see as your competitor in the market?
I don’t think that anyone is my competition. Everybody is doing their own business. Everybody has got their own state of mind. If I look around my property, the concept of an eco-friendly pub with quirky interiors and retractable roof makes us stand firm. Though, competitions are always good for any business.
What are the various cuisines and beverages offered at your pub?
We are having mixed cuisines like Tex-Mex, North Indian, Chinese, a little bit of Mexican and Italian both. Cocktails, Mocktails, regular straight drinks and beers are the prime ingredient in our beverage section.
How are you looking to expand your Beer Garden Empire?
We are planning to open new branches but they won’t be in Gurgaon. It is going to be somewhere else. We are not yet confirmed about the location but surely the planning is being done.
