Norwegian Seafood Council partnered with Pescafresh to commission a consumer research on Salmon Consumption in India

Pescafresh, the leading fresh seafood brand and India’s first organized seafood distribution and retailing company and Norwegian Seafood Council have partnered for a consumer research to recognize consumption of Salmon in India.

Pescafresh has been catering to the seafood lovers of India for over a decade and is the largest seller of fresh chilled Salmon in India today.

Speaking about the partnership, Sangram Sawant, Founder and CEO, Pescafresh said, “Pescafresh has been expanding the horizon of Seafood choices to the Indian consumers. Fish such as Atlantic Salmon from Norway have been one of our key products that seafood enthusiasts have loved. We are excited by this association with the Norwegian Seafood Coucil (NSC) and this partnership is a testimony of our leadership in the fresh Indian seafood industry. ”

The Norwegian Government conducted an extensive research on the Indian seafood market and had been attempting various methods to penetrate the market in order to bring Salmon to the mainstream food category.

Impressed by the success of Pescafresh in becoming the leading retailer of Fresh Salmon in India, the Norwegian Seafood Council has decided to partner with the company to have an in depth analysis and research on the Salmon consumption patterns among Indian consumers and study the potential of this market in India.

“This is a landmark enagagement model for foreign countries to penetrate the Indian Market, an unconventional approach which typically disrupts the way market research is conducted. The approach of  engaging with real world companies who work on a direct basis with the consumer will surely mark a pioneering effort by Pescafresh and Norway. We are excited at Pescafresh to take this opportunity forward “

Norway exported seafood to the value of NOK 5.7 billion in July 2015. There has been a 15 per cent increase, compared with the same month in 2014. Salmon exports were worth NOK 3.8 billion in July 2015, 9% increase from July 2014. France, Poland and the UK were the biggest importers of Norwegian salmon in July.
