In an exclusive interview to Restaurant India, Vikram Rana, Owner of Caffe Mad House shares the concept of creating some ‘Mad’ deals to suit the name Caffe Mad House.

What’s the concept of Mad House Caffe?

Caffe Mad House is a gastro pub at Sohna Road in Gurgaon. In July 2015, we have acquired this establishment from the previous owners. Since then we have come up with some exciting changes in the menu and the deals for our customers. Mad House is a hangout party place with a youthful ambience and trendy interiors. We have a huge LED screen and a big stage for holding live screenings and performances. The state of the art music system is put to great use by our resident DJ, who plays peppy music with a different genre every night. All in all, it’s aimed to be the next big thing in the casual dining and partying experience.

You have wide variety in your menu. What all things come along in designing your restaurant menu?

We have a multi-cuisine spread which includes Indian, Continental, Chinese and Thai delicacies. There are certain other elements of European, Italian and Arabic cuisine to make it more interesting. Since there are myriad choices available, everyone has something to relish at Caffe Mad House.

Who are your target customers? Do you see any threat from your competitors?

Our target customers are all those who are young at heart and enjoy good food and appreciate good music. Healthy competition is always welcomed and appreciated. We don’t see any threat from our competitors since we specialize in our genre i.e. a wholesome entertainment and delectable food to be made available at reasonable prices to the end customers.

According to you, what are the new techniques you introduce for your restaurant to grow?

We are creating some ‘Mad’ deals to suit as the name suggest. These deals are easy to customer’s pocket and give a lot of benefits to them. Also, as I said we’re looking to provide wholesome entertainment, so we offer great music, live performances and lot of space to party. The unique feature is the ‘Mad Selfie Corner’, which is inspired by the raging trend of selfies these days. We provide some crazy props for people to use and click awesome memorable selfies.

What are the challenges you face during online order and reservation services?

The challenge with online orders is to ensure that we meet the commitments which we have made. So if we commit a delivery time of 60 minutes for instance, we prepare fresh food after receiving the order and also ensure that we deliver within that timeframe. Good packaging and quality is also an important aspect.

Reservation service is generally used very sparingly in the Gurgaon food industry as people usually walk-in rather than making prior reservations. This challenge leads to the unpredictability of the crowd we expect at any given time. If we’re aware in advance of the reservations, then we can plan things accordingly. Fortunately, we haven’t face much challenges in catering to unexpected crowds so far.

Tell us something about the supply chain management in your hotel. Who are the suppliers? Can you name some?

After taking over, we have changed quite a few suppliers to the ones who offer better products to us. Our vendors are the lifeline since what we receive is what we work on and then deliver to the customers. Therefore, vendor quality is as important as the cooking and service quality.

M.S. Enterprises is our supplier for groceries and Bhagwan Thakur is the supplier for vegetables. All dedicated in their trades and believe in quality and our receiving team also ensures that we expect only quality checked items.

What are your marketing strategies in terms of promoting your brand online?

Marketing is extremely important to increase the outreach and create a buzz among people. We’re focusing on online marketing a lot since it is the focus these days. Face book, Twitter, Instagram are the platforms where we are very active. Our patrons get all updates related to our daily events and deals through these platforms.

Which are the cities where we can see Mad house coming?

Our next target is Delhi, where we’d be looking to open an outlet by 2016-17. Then, our next targets will be Noida, Chandigarh and other cities.

Are you are looking for any franchisee partners?

Of course! Mad House is a brand which is new in the F&B industry but is building up its reputation fast. We’d been keen to have franchisee arrangements which can help the business and the brand grow.
