By Charu Sharma Feature Writer

Talk about food and any Bengali around you will teach the right way of eating. Food is like their favorite tune and they love grooving on it every now and then. It’s a legacy which they are following since ages and nobody in the world can beat their passion for food.

Guess the level of excitement when Durga Pujo is here. With the onset of autumn, all the bangla bandhus find themselves talking about anything and everything from shopping to eating. Pujo is about different emotions put together in an alluring custom. Not only Kolkata, but every state plus the national capital, New Delhi is in the festive gusto. And, festival is all about food especially bangali festival can’t go without lip smacking delicacies. Pandals filled with bangali food can be seen at every nook and corner of the city. Now, you sure want to pay fidelity to Goddess Durga and at the same time to the bangali cuisine. Here are few places to satiate your taste buds this Durga Pujo and take yourself on a blissful journey:

Oh! Calcutta (Nehru Place): Oh! Calcutta holds a very special place in the heart of every bengali living in Delhi and is ranked number one in their frequent places to eat. It is said that stomach is the way to heart. We don’t know about anyone else in the country but it’s true when it comes to a Bengali heart. Oh! Calcutta is known for serving authentic bangali cuisine. With outlets in Nehru Place and Gurgaon, this restaurant is one of the heavens Delhi has to offer. From fish and prawns cooked in mustard to famous Bengali dishes, the restaurant offers a wide variety of the region’s delicacies. We recommend Chingri Malai Curry and Kosha Mangsho a must try at this popular restaurant.

City of Joy (Alaknanda): Located in one of the popular streets of CR Park, the restaurant offers a huge variety of recipes bringing city of Joy as it is called under one roof. This restaurant is a place to vouch for non vegetarian food but at the same time, it doesn’t disappoint vegetarians. Daab Chingri and Kobiraji are the first choice for prawn lovers here and believe us Aloo Poshto and Aloo Bhaja will leave vegetarians licking their fingers.

Bijoli Grill (Connaught Place): Bijoli Grill has its name embarked in every bangla heart and why not when it’s reasonably priced plus lot of options available. With four outlets across the city, this is a place which can spoil you for choice. The restaurant serves some dishes out of the league but is cooked in Bengali homes every day i.e., Muitha and Jhal.

Mandaa (Hauz Khas Village): We understand that Durga Pujo is about paying homage to Goddess Durga but how can we miss feasting. Mandaa is a place to spend quality time over some of the best simple bangla food available in Delhi. The mutton is amazing and so is the chicken, and guess what, both of them have ‘aloos’. So what are you waiting for? Go and spend some time away from your otherwise hectic schedule.

Kolkata Biryani House (CR Park): As it is clear by the name itself, this place serves biryani to die for. And, the next thing to take your breath away is the affordable range. That aroma of biryani calls you every time whenever you step in CR Park. Do we need to mention that people from everywhere come all the way just to have the aromatic biryani dwelled into different kind of bangla spices and not to miss the boiled eggs and potatoes mixed with the biryani!

Hence, we can say that the Pujo is incomplete without those mouthwatering dishes and desserts. So let us tell you that all of the above places would not disappoint you when it comes to curb your sweet cravings. Spare some place in your tummy for ‘Roshogullas’.
