SOUTHERN MENU GETS A HEALTHY TWIST

India has always been a food-loving country and the last few decades have seen a tremendous rise in the number of restaurants offering different cuisines. Dravida’s Bistro is one amongst those food havens which has brought the real flavours of the southern India to Pune’s foodaholics. By Tanya Krishna

SOUTHERN MENU GETS A HEALTHY TWIST

Dravida’s Bistro was started in November 2015 by two alumni of Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, Switzerland – Indira Sukumar and Pothen Cherian. The South Indian restaurant was launched with a goal to create a different concept in the category. “We understand that today’s customer doesn’t have the time to cook food at home, especially working professionals. We find that most of their nutritional needs are outsourced from restaurants like us and that’s a responsibility we take seriously,” says Sukumar.

EXPANSION PLANS

While it has come a long way with great acceptance from the people of Pune, Dravida’s Bistro plans to expand pan-India through franchising. “It’s a very great concept for franchising because we also offer a QSR format which is affordable and easy to manage for any first-time restaurateur, along with our support. Franchising is an efficient growth model for brands. Franchising an already established brand is a huge plus point. Franchising helps brands achieve maximum visibility and reach,” asserts Sukumar.
Meanwhile, Dravida’s Bistro has moved from a 70-seater restaurant to a 200-seater restaurant. “We dedicate about 5-6% of our gross revenue for marketing. Along with the social media, we do frequent offers and flyers in our immediate area. Newspaper advertising is used during festivals for maximum visibility,” informs Sukumar.
