REACHING FOR DAZZLING HEIGHTS

Hyderabad-based Dazzle Spa and Salon started its journey as a unisex salon brand in the year 2012. After a successful run in metro cities,Nagesh Balina, Managing Director at Dazzle Salon and Spa (P) Ltd. started Vasundhara Salon™ for consumers in Tier II and Tier III cities, thus perfecting the formula of providing better services at relatively lower prices. With Indian beauty and wellness market hitting the Rs 80,370 crore mark this year, this could just be the beginning of another success story.

THE FRANCHISE ROUTE
In its first phase of expansion, Dazzle Spa and Salon flagged off eight company-owned, company-operated branches in four cities – Hyderabad, Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram and Visakhapatnam. It also has four COCO outlets coming up in Kakinada, Warangal, Karimnagar and Nizamabad. But now it wants to spread its wings across more geographical territorires, Balina wants to take the franchising route “to scale up faster”. “We wanted to achieve operational and technical excellence before moving to franchising. Now, we are ready to do so,” he says. He believes franchisee model is suitable since the investment is just about Rs 15 lakhs.

THE ROAD AHEAD
Vasundhara Salon may have started with Tier II and Tier III cities on its radar but Balina thinks they can compete with other brands in metro cities as well. It offers services at 30-40% lower prices without compromising on the use of premium products as Schwarzkopf, Christine Valmy, Kryolan, etc. It also provides training to its staff at their own academy in Hyderabad. It plans on extending training support to all its franchisee partners, preferably women. The plan is to reach a milestone of 100 outlets – both company-owned and franchisees – in three years.
