PRIMARILY an aviation services organisation, Jetair Private Limited, has diversified into allied businesses, such as inbound and outbound tourism, conferences and conventions, and ground handling at airports. Over 1,700 trained and responsive personnel, offering a range of marketing, sales and accounting support services, man its 110 offices across 54 cities in India.

In November 2000, Jetair entered into a joint venture with United Parcel Service (UPS), the world's largest package delivery company and a Fortune 500 Company listed on the NYSE. The UPS-Jetair Express Courier joint venture is positioned to tap into the changing face of India's vast export potential, offering time-definite express package delivery services linked to some of the industry's best technological solutions.

As part of its on-going diversifications plans, a new company, Jetair Business Solutions, has been incorporated to venture into the retail industry through the franchising route. The company has entered into a strategic partnership with Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE), a company established in 1980 in the United States. In 2001, UPS acquired MBE making it a 100 per cent subsidiary of UPS. As master licensee of MBE for India, Jetair Business Solutions plans to enter the retail business through a service and distribution network, delivering personalised and convenient business solutions backed by high quality customer service. This will be achieved by setting up a chain of ‘The UPS Stores’ through a network of franchisees across the country. Each store will be a one-stop destination for the small businesses and general customers looking for a complete range of modern business solutions.

Products and services

UPS Jetair Express Pvt. Ltd provides international express delivery services in India and offers a comprehensive range of cost-effective solutions, including export and import of express documents and packages in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

It has all the support services needed, from packaging and shipping to receiving of documents and parcels, to being a one-stop source for copies, colour printing, faxes, and office supplies.

The company plans to open 150 UPS stores in the first phase of its operation. The store will be India's first full-service retail chain that will combine packaging, shipping and other business services with Jet Airways ticketing services.
The store concept is the first-of-its-kind retail business service offered in India with a wide range of products and services in one convenient location.

However, several aspects will be consistent in all The UPS Store location worldwide, such as, the look and feel of the centres, the focus on world-class customer service, and the level of quality and reliability for which UPS is known throughout the world.

The company is able to provide a variety of small business services including high-volume printing, copying and finishing services, parcel and document receiving services, and other value-added services.

UPS is fully committed to India. Given India's tremendous growth potential, UPS customers are demanding that UPS provide specialised services in India. The company serves as a gateway for Indian exporters to more than 200 countries and territories in which UPS operates. In India, UPS caters to exporters and individual customers in 25 cities, which covers 40 locations.

Customers are turning to UPS for the efficiency and reliability of its worldwide network. In Q2 of 2005, it’s export volume in India grew more than 75 per cent compared to the same period last year.
