Hidesign plans global expansion, focuses on exclusive outlets

As part of an assertive branding strategy, Hidesign has firmed up plans to expand its retail footprint in the international market and focusses on exclusive outlets. It has zeroed in on Russia, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and South Africa as it seeks to creat

Meanwhile, the Pondicherry-based company is in talks with five mall owners in South Africa, after having recently launched its outlet in Sweden. Hidesign has five outlets in Moscow, two in Dubai and one in Los Angeles. One of the earliest Indian brands to be retailed globally, it is already available in premium international stores like House of Fraser, John Lewis, Magasin Du Nord, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Selfridges. The brand expansion will be visible in the country too as the company plans to launch 18 stores in 12 to 18 months.

Hidesign is present through a chain of 32 owned and franchised boutiques, and off-the-shelves in retail outlets like Shoppers' Stop, Lifestyle, The Bombay Store and Westside. The company is also weighing options to launch exclusive outlets of its latest brand offering Salsa - that was test launched in Delhi. The group is keen on establishing itself in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Cochin before heading towards north.
