Isha Ambani, Director at Reliance Retail, said the restructuring positions RCPL to tap into India's expanding $2 trillion consumer market, which is growing at over 8% annually.

Reliance Retail’s fast-growing consumer products division, RCPL, will now operate as a direct subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), the company announced at its 48th Annual General Meeting. The move aims to consolidate all consumer-facing brands under one focused entity poised to scale rapidly.

Isha Ambani, Director at Reliance Retail, said the restructuring positions RCPL to tap into India's expanding $2 trillion consumer market, which is growing at over 8% annually. She highlighted the rising spending power of India’s 350 million middle-class households and the sharp uptake of branded products in rural areas, which now drive 65% of FMCG growth.

“For the first time, rural markets are adopting global-quality branded products faster than urban markets,” Ambani said, citing 35% annual penetration growth in rural India. “RCPL is not just observing this shift — it is shaping it.”

She also outlined RCPL’s broader ambitions, setting a goal to become the fastest consumer brands company to reach ₹1 lakh crore in revenue within five years. Long-term, RCPL aims to be India’s largest FMCG player with global reach, expanding into apparel, electronics, and other consumer categories.

Chairman Mukesh Ambani described RCPL and Reliance Intelligence — a newly launched AI and data venture — as next-generation growth engines for RIL. “Each has the potential to surpass our existing business segments in scale and profitability,” he said.

RCPL’s focus on Deep-Tech manufacturing, consumer insights, and pan-India distribution is expected to fuel its growth and value creation.

In Q1 FY26, Reliance Retail reported a 28.3% year-on-year increase in profit to ₹3,271 crore, and revenue of ₹84,171 crore, up 11.3% YoY. The company added 388 new stores, growing its customer base to 358 million. Despite temporary softness in consumer electronics due to early monsoons, recovery is underway.

Globally, Reliance Retail now ranks among the Top 5 retailers by number of stores, Top 10 by market cap, and Top 30 by revenue, marking its emergence as a major player on the world stage.
