The Genesis of Fashion World

Fashion World is more than just another retail concept—it's a strategic answer to a major market gap. While India’s fashion and lifestyle sector continues to expand, around 60% of it remains dominated by unorganized local retailers, especially in Tier III and IV cities.

“When we studied the landscape,” says Devtosh Jha, Business Head of Fashion World, “We realized the value segment was significantly underserved by branded players. Reliance Retail saw an opportunity to redefine it.”

Launched with a mission to democratize fashion, Fashion World blends quality, affordability, and accessibility. With over 60 stores already active and plans to expand to 500+ cities in the next two years, the brand is poised to reshape value fashion in India.

Driving the Vision

Jha leads Fashion World with the goal of building an inclusive, scalable, and hyper-local retail model. “We're not just selling clothes,” he noted. “We’re introducing lifestyle experiences where they didn’t exist—at prices people can actually afford.”

The Franchising Strategy

In 2024, Fashion World launched its 100% FOFO (Franchisee Owned, Franchisee Operated) model to bring local entrepreneurs on board. These partners aren't just investors—they're retail champions who understand local needs. Reliance supports them with everything from visual merchandising to CRM systems, free of cost.

Joining the Fashion World franchise offers a gateway into one of India’s most ambitious retail expansions. With a store size of 3,000–4,000 sq. ft. and an investment of up to Rs 50 lakh, partners access a proven brand with strong backend support. Early adopters benefit from a waiver on franchise fees, making it a low-barrier entry into branded retail.

What Sets Fashion World Apart

Compact yet immersive, Fashion World stores cater to regional preferences while maintaining a modern retail experience. Shoppers find a mix of ethnic, Indo-western, formal, and casual wear, with prices starting at just Rs199.

The brand’s approach of “local is luxe” ensures that each store feels rooted in its community. Hyper-local fashion curation, a robust supply chain, and tech integration allow stores to be both familiar and aspirational.

According to Jha, three key trends are defining the Indian fashion landscape:

  2. Regional Relevance– Local styles and cultural alignment are more important than ever.
  3. Phygital Expectations– Even offline buyers expect digital conveniences; which Fashion World delivers.

Looking Ahead

Reliance Retail plans to make Fashion World the top value fashion destination across Bharat. “Within two years, we aim to be in 500+ cities,” says Jha. “Five years from now, Fashion World will be a symbol of India’s fashion awakening.”
