Mr Sunny Chau is the Director of Thailand of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the statutory organisation promoting and developing external trade for Hong Kong. He is based in Bangkok, and looks after the Thailand, Myanmar, India, and Philippines markets.

Since assuming duty in November 2012, Mr Chau has been assisting companies, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the region to promote their goods and services internationally through Hong Kong. Initiatives include: assisting multiple regions in the Philippines to look for investment through Hong Kong, and pioneering the project Thai Access to International Markets under the sponsorship of Office of SMEs Promotion, Thailand, among others. He is also serving in the SME Committee of the Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, consisting of over 30 foreign chambers.

Before the current posting, Mr Chau worked in the Product Promotion Department at HKTDC Hong Kong, promoting Hong Kong products internationally. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Chinese Business Law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and graduated from Warwick University in the UK with a BSc Management Science degree.
