West Bengal has nearly doubled the credit flow to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector.
According to the state government, the credit flow to the MSMEs was nearly Rs 3,000 crore between FY 2006-07 and FY 2009-10. It also says that 90 per cent of that loan amount went to medium-sized units and only 10 per cent to micro and small enterprises (MSEs).
The state government will submit a memorandum to the Planning Commission and the finance ministry in order to seek sub-limits for MSEs on bank lending. The state government plans to take several initiatives in order to boost credit flow to the MSME sector.
