India’s telecom major, Vodafone, has received phenomenal response from SMEs to its second season of ‘Drive into the Big League’ programme. More than 270,000 entries from SMEs were received to get their logo placed on the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes cars that will race from October 26-28, 2012 in the second season of F1 Indian Grand Prix.
The entries for the contest closed on August 30 was meant for enterprises with a turnover ranging between Rs 10 crore and Rs 250 crore. The entries to get their logo placed on racing cars came from many cities viz. Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, J&K, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Karnataka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
The maximum requests received were from manufacturing SMEs followed by wholesale and retail enterprises.
SMEs would be chosen as per their growth rate. The companies that have grown fastest over the last two-three years will be shortlisted for the qualifying rounds. Chandigarh, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi Ahmedabad, Mangalore, Bhubaneswar, Vishakhapatnam, Lucknow and Coimbatore will host the qualifying rounds from September 7-13.
Moreover, around five to seven shortlisted entries will compete in each of the city qualifiers. After another selection round, adjudged by Vodafone officials and jury members, two winners from each venue will be selected to be the part of Grand finale. The final winner will be chosen through a reality show on a national television.
