The Government intends to achieve enrollment of 35.9 million students in higher education institutions.
Arun Kumar, the high ranking US government official, who is the Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service and Assistant Secretary for Global Markets, US Department of Commerce - International Trade administration was the chief guest during the launch of Ahmedabad chapter of US-India Importers' Council (USIIC) on 10 January 2015.
In his current role, Kumar leads the trade and investment promotion efforts for the US Government. With offices in over 100 US cities and in 72 world markets, including Ahmedabad in India, he also serves as the International Trade Administration's lead official advocating for better market access for US exporters.
India-US relations have become increasingly broad based covering cooperation in areas such as trade and economic, defense and security, education, science and technology, high-technology, civil nuclear energy, space technology and applications, clean energy, environment and health.
During meetings between the US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the USA, they both had discussed about smart cities, Make in India, skill development and clean India. Kumar will be sharing the developments in this direction during the launch of USIIC.
"Both Governments are working overtime to make the President Obama and PM Narendra Modi meeting on 26 January 2015 a grand success in terms of mutual cooperation in fields of defense, smart cities, environment, clean technology," said Kumar.
USIIC aims to be the leading organisation assisting government bodies, industry associations, corporates, agents, Indian importers and American companies in connection to decision makers in the government and private sector in India and vice versa.
"After PM Narendra Modi's visit to the USA, there is a renewed energy and momentum in Indo-US relations, which is reflected in the fact that USA is the country partner at Vibrant Gujarat 2015 and a high official like John Kerry is making his presence felt at Vibrant Gujarat," said Shreyas Sheth, President, USIIC-Ahmedabad Chapter and MD, Amol Dicalite Ltd.
Sharing his views on taking Indo-US ties to greater heights, Jagat Shah, Vice President, USIIC-Ahmedabad Chapter and CEO, Global Network, said: "The large Indian community in the USA gave a clear message to both India and the USA that the Indian diaspora in the USA is ready to move on to the next level of its engagement with India with large investments across the country.
