Bureau of Energy Efficiency, BEE has been rating the companies for energy efficiency and now they are conducting technology study on 18-19 commodity sectors.
In a bid to encourage MSMEs to reduce consumption of energy, the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) will soon provide subsidy to MSMEs for adopting energy efficient measures in their firms.
"If by adoption of certain measures you can reduce your consumption of energy by 15 percent you get certain subsidy," said Shyam Agarwal, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner (MSME), at a function organised by CII in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In the past also, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, BEE has been rating the companies for energy efficiency and now they are conducting technology study on 18-19 commodity sectors.
"If some commodity is not covered by BEE then the unit can take up (adopt) the study of Ministry of Power, Environment and Forests and Science and Technology (in their firms), prepare a detailed project report accordingly and can get a subsidy," Agarwal added.
"The study reports will be put on MSME development commissioner website in say a month," he added.
The initiative is a part of government''s National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP) and will also help firms get easy loans for setting up new projects.
