Snapdeal and NIESBUD have agreed to collaborate for promoting entrepreneurship in the e-commerce marketplace space
India’s largest online marketplace – Snapdeal.com announces a partnership with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) to empower small and medium sized businesses through their marketplace model.
The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development is an apex organization of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises engaged in training, consultancy, and research to promote entrepreneurial cuture along with competency building using skill development and up-skilling initiatives. The Institute has trained more than 298,000 individuals/businesses since inception. The policy, direction and guidance to the Institute are provided by its Governing Council whose Chairman is Kalraj Mishra, Minister of MSME, Government of India.
Details of the Partnership:
1) Snapdeal and NIESBUD have agreed to collaborate for promoting entrepreneurship in the e-commerce marketplace space.
2) Snapdeal and NIESBUD have agreed to examine and assess the potential of MSMEs on boarding e-commerce marketplaces.
3) Snapdeal and NIESBUD have agreed to design and organize joint training programme(s) for individuals and businesses keen to be entrepreneurs on ecommerce marketplaces.
4) Snapdeal and NIESBUD have agreed to facilitate complementing benefits to each institutions MSME base, specifically extend special concessions and facilities to the sellers on Snapdeal ecommerce marketplace through NEISBUD
Speaking about the partnership, Rohit Bansal, co-founder and COO, Snapdeal.com said, “We are thrilled to sign an MOU with NIESBUD. With this, we are now further promoting entrepreneurship and digitally enabling small and medium sized businesses in India. The scope of this collaboration not only encompasses entrepreneurship development using E – Commerce, but also includes training the existing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to learn and grow their business using E-commerce. In this endeavor for capacity building, approximately 500 enterprises will be up skilled every month.
Snapdeal will also promote various NIESBUD training programmes to its seller’s base and offer special packages for NIESBUD trained MSMEs to become potential sellers on the website. Additionally the e-commerce platform will promote Virtual Clusters – a unique initiative by the Ministry of MSME to make available all the important information regarding various schemes and benefits for MSME under a single umbrella.
