Stelling Technologies, which owns and operates Web and mobile app RailYatri.in has raised Rs.3 crores from Blume Ventures’ maiden fund Rs 100 crore and an US-based angel investor, as reported by ET.
RailYatri, founded by Manish Rathi, Kapil Raizada and Sachin Saxena in 2011 is a web and mobile-based tool that offers information related to travel like live train status, platform locator and seat availability.
The ET report further stated that the company earlier has raised an undisclosed amount of fund from a silicon based angel firm, Ujama Ventures.
"We raise funds to capitalise on the demand of our product, and accelerate the pace of product innovation. The idea is to make RailYatri.in the best platform for train travelers to plan their journey, train-related search, social sharing and commerce," Rathi, chief executive, RailYatri.in told ET.
The revenue model of railyatri.in is based on taxi bookings. As a part of this model, the company has tied up with taxi services firms across 30 cities and food vendors across 300 stations.
"Train travel is a very unique experience in India and is quite central to the life of an average Indian. But the experience hasn't changed significantly in years though there are billions of trips annually. The RailYatri app is designed to offer a bouquet of services, with the rail traveler at its centre," Karthik Reddy, managing partner, Blume Ventures told ET.
