OnlinePrasad.com, founded by 26-year-old Goonjan Mall with his own funds in 2012, offers home delivery of prasad and religious items from over 50 temples
Bangalore-based Sumiran Spiritual Services Pvt. Ltd, which owns and operates OnlinePrasad.com, said on Monday it has raised money from individual investors and groups, without disclosing the amount. The company plans to use the funds to expand the scale of its offerings, increase brand awareness and strengthen the team, according to a Mint report.
OnlinePrasad.com, founded by 26-year-old Goonjan Mall with his own funds in 2012, offers home delivery of prasad and religious items from over 50 temples. The funding was led by Hyderabad Angels, and Chennai Angels was a partner.
Individual investors included Srini Koppolu, former managing director of Microsoft India Development Center, and founders such as Suresh Babu of Suresh Productions, Amul Sanghani of Unicorn Group and Snehil Saraf of Radha Smelters Ltd.
A devotee unable to visit a temple can make online offerings for a basic charge of Rs 501. The prasad is offered at the temple by the company, after which it is delivered to the devotee’s address in five-seven days.
With this round of funding, Mall is looking to expand the scale of its offerings, increase brand awareness and strengthen the team. “OnlinePrasad has created high entry barriers very early, in the niche and rapidly growing spiritual e-commerce segment,” said Sasidhar Nandigam, Director, Hyderabad Angels, in a statement.
Chennai Angels declined to comment on their participation in the funding round stating that they will be providing information post official announcement of the deal.
