NITTTR, Kolkata organised the first regional workshop on technical education for Northeastern States in Gangtok.
As per the press release, North India Technical Teachers Training and Research Institute, Kolkata (NITTTR) organised the first regional workshop on technical education for Northeastern States in Gangtok. The workshop was inaugurated by State HRDD Minister who was the chief guest for the event.
The HRDD Minister highlighted the importance of technical education and how to compete in the present scenario of rapidly changed technology. Principal Secretary, HRDD, Sikkim, explained the contribution of polytechnic education in the growth of industries. He also encouraged the proper implementation of community development through polytechnic scheme, (CDTP) existing in different polytechnics of Northeastern States.
Prof Sila Rai Yadav from NITTTR Kolkata delivered a presentation on the function of community development through polytechnic scheme and graded Assam in second position while Mizoram occupied first position.
Director of Technical Education, Assam, Dr Atul Borah spoke on present issues of technical education in the State and elaborated on the steps taken for the development of technical education in existing polytechnics and another new 21 polytechnics to be established under Central Scheme.
On the last day of workshop, a panel discussion on effectiveness of ICT-based training for technical teachers was held. In the end of the workshop, recommendations on technical education from all polytechnics were collected and summarised by Director, NITTTR, Kolkata.
