The National Board for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NBMSME) met and discussed various aspects of MSME sector with special focus on the Public Procurement Policy.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of State for MSME KH Muniyappa, who laid emphasis on training through PPP Mode and increasing competitiveness of the sector.
"The minister appealed to all members to mobilise MSME Associations and through them the MSME units to actively participate in the procurement process related to central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) and state PSUs," said an official statement.
"Procurement Policy is a statutory requirement under the MSMED Act and this is mandatory for all CPSUs in 3 years," said Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner MSME Amarendra Sinha said.
The sub target of 4 per cent of procurement from SC/ST entrepreneurs should be followed strictly, added Sinha.
"There have been new developments in the MSME sector which include creation of India Inclusive Innovation Fund, legal framework for factoring services and creation of 15 new technology centres," MSME Secretary Madhav Lal said.
Other members who participated in the meeting included Lok Sabha MP Hans Raj Ahir, representatives from MSME Associations, special invitees, financial institutions and some women entrepreneurs.
