India needs a lot of social innovators as more jobs will come from small entrepreneurs in the next decade than out of government and big companies, said Sam Pitroda, adviser to the Prime Minister.
“These social innovators would be the key in future to create jobs as the government is not likely to create much of jobs. Don't expect big number of jobs to come out of the government or big companies,” Pitroda told reporters in New Delhi.
He also announced that Action for India (AFI), a non-profit organisation under him will organise two forums in NCR region on January 11-12 to bring together about 100 social innovators to connect with investors, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) professionals, technology titans, corporate executives and government officials.
AFI connects social innovators with investors, mentors, technology resources, government contacts and local partners to overcome barriers to scale and achieve greater impact at the bottom of the pyramid.
"I wish this model can be replicated in other cities especially II and III tier cities. You need local champions to do this. We are now looking for people in various cities,” he added.
