In a bid to boost energy efficiency in MSME industrial clusters, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), in association with The World Bank is coming up with an initiative to improve energy efficiency and bring down the level of Green House Gas emissions from MSMEs.
Under the initiative, it has planned to perform energy audits, completion of detailed project reports (DPRs) and other relevant works in five clusters – Kolhapur, Pune, Tirunelveli, Ankleswhar and Faridabad that will help towards ensuring proper and smooth finances from banks to support energy efficiency measures. The project may get extended to other clusters.
The project plans to play a developmental role in energy efficiency in 500 projects in the identified clusters. Under the MOU signed between SIDBI and BEE, BEE will create energy-efficient technologies for 25 MSME clusters and implementing energy efficiency tools and SIDBI has helped BEE in training its consultants on financial appraisal and also in devising the formats for cluster-level technology DPRs.
